🐾 My Favorite Weekend Drive: The Tail of the Dragon & Fort Loudoun

Hello, friend! 🐶 It’s me, Typhoon — your Belgian Malinois and Chief Storyteller of Real Hound Estates.

This weekend Mom and I took one of our favorite drives — the legendary Tail of the Dragon. Now, if you’ve never heard of it, let me explain: 318 curves packed into just 11 miles. Sounds fun, right? Well… Mom says she gets dizzy just on a backyard swing 😅, so you can imagine what all those twists and turns do to her.

As for me? Let’s just say I’m not the biggest fan of mountain roads. I get serious — ears up, eyes sharp, like I’m calculating every curve myself. No goofy grins, no wagging tail. I take my co-pilot job very seriously. Meanwhile, bikers zoom past, leaning deep into the turns, then stop at scenic overlooks to admire the gorgeous views. And oh, those views… the mountain silhouettes stretching across the valleys, layer after layer of ridges fading into smoky blues and greens. Breathtaking no matter the season.

But here’s the fun part: the moment my paws touch the ground — 💨 swoosh! — I’m back to myself. Parkour king of East Tennessee. Leaping boulders, sprinting trails, bouncing off rocks like the Smokies were built just for me. From “serious chauffeur supervisor” to “ninja athlete” in seconds.

Closer to sunset, we headed to Fort Loudoun State Park. The lake was calm, a gentle breeze rippling across the water while the sky lit up with fiery oranges, soft pinks, and dusky purples. I stood tall, nose in the air, breathing it all in while Mom smiled, soaking up the magic of the Smoky Mountains.

Mom says East Tennessee weekends are never boring — and I have to agree. Between mountain drives, lake breezes, and a good sprint, it’s pretty close to perfect.

🐾 Until next time,
